A University of Tennessee and Yale University School of Music graduate, Rogene Russell is Principal Oboist of The Dallas Opera Orchestra where she just completed her twenty eighth season with the orchestra. Since 1977, Rogene has been a member of the oboe section of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and also serves as Adjunct Professor of Oboe at the University of Texas at Arlington. Rogene currently represents The Dallas Opera Orchestra on The Dallas Opera Board of Trustees. A founding member of Fine Arts Chamber Players (FACP), Rogene serves as the Artistic Director of FACP, a Dallas non-profit that provides free concerts of classical music and free music lessons to students in Dallas public schools. Rogene loves to cook and her culinary specialties are often enjoyed backstage by the opera musicians during intermissions.
Stewart Williams, Instructor of Oboe at TCU since 2001, holds the BM and MM degrees from Southern Methodist University where he studied with Eric Barr, longtime Principal Oboe of the Dallas Symphony. Since 2000 he has held the position of English horn and 2nd Oboe with the Dallas Opera Orchestra. He holds the same position with the Shreveport Symphony, Longview Symphony and Wichita Falls Symphony; and frequently performs with the Fort Worth Symphony on English horn as well as oboe. As a chamber musician, Mr. Williams performs over 50 outreach concerts a year with Texas Winds Musical Outreach, and has also performed with Fine Arts Chamber Players' Basically Beethoven Festival, Baroque Artists of Shreveport, and regularly at TCU. In addition, he has recorded with harpsichordist Larry Palmer and soprano Patti Spain, as well as with the Dallas Opera Orchestra. Most recently he can be heard on the Grammy nominated Garden of Dreams, with music by David Maslanka.
